I found a political compass test which I thought was interesting. Basically you answer about 20 questions which are mixed up. The answers can range from "Strongly Agree" to "Strongly Disagree". I thought it was pretty good. You then get given a diagram with a little red dot explaining your political stance (it's not the one you first see, you have to scroll down).
Anywho, I took the test and I got this result:

So I'm a Left-wing Libertarian/Libertarian Socialist it seems. Obviously I'm not just gonna blindly follow an online quiz but it's interesting. I think it's got it quite right about me but for some of the questions I didn't quite know what to put.
Looks like I'll be voting Labour...

Intrigued, I did it too.

Seems that we believe in the same things, Mr Admin...'cept I'll be voting Conservative.
I reckon that I came out such because my political beliefs are somewhat messed up, and this scale they've used sums things up, as they say, better than simple left-right. I believe myself to be naturally anarchistic, but, at the same time, right wing...which can work together. Some people get mixed up though, seeing right wing as naturally authoritarian. Left-wing, however, relies more on state control, whereas moderate right is the kind of state that mends the roads, and leaves the people be.

In theory.

Anyone up for starting a political party with "messed up" beliefs?

Anarchistic and slightly right-wing? Isn't that the stance of the Lib-dems? I think the connection between right-wing and authoritarian is based on the fact that most right-wing parties are authoritarian. Such examples like conservatives and Republicans over in the US. The only thing I was surprised by was how right-wing the Labour Party comes out as. Yet, as far as I'm concerned, Labour is the best option for students in particular. Especially when it comes to Uni.

Introduced? Universities always cost... And then there's living expenses.

Ah, that's the thing. They didn't use(d?) to, in Britain. Obviously there are living expenses, but unis used to be pretty much free, until a few years ago

Not caused by labour, that's just the increase in applicants. When my dad went to Uni he had 2 bad A levels and got into a Humanities degree because he "found it interesting" then the government practically paid him to go to uni cos in those days applicant numbers were so low. I think a Labour government was in power at the time.
AS a side note, he proved that his bad A levels were due to his school by getting a scholarship to LSE :S (obviously slightly easier than today but not be sniffed at)

I support the Liberal Democrats. They support free university education. When my parents went to university, the government paid everything for them. Labour seem to want to put tuition fees up even further in England.

It's a bit weird really as Labour are supposed to be the left wing bunch while currently they sit somewhere in the center right. lib dem is meant to be central and conservatives are meant to be right. Lib dem have some good policies but I don't think they'll get into power because their main vote is from middle class people, the same people that labour and conservatives are trying to win over. Lib dem get middle, Labour get left and middle, tories get right and middle.

So I'm pretty much the same as all of you, it would seem.

It does kind of seem like the "good" quarter to be in, considering who's in the other ones...so who should I vote for, then? Razz
